About Shawn

Most of Shawn’s 34 years as an attorney have been spent in litigation, as well as assisting clients during the most trying times of their lives when he represented them through the Bankruptcy process. Shawn joined the Law Offices of Blake R. Maislin in July 2023, and is focused on helping homeowners who have been denied coverage by an insurance company after suffering a loss to their home due to storm damage. 

 

EDUCATION:   

-Vanderbilt University, Bachelor of Arts, double majored in English and Political Science. Sports and News Editor of the college newspaper for 2 years; played club lacrosse and wrestled for 4 years. 

-Salmon P. Chase College of Law, night school, received Book Award for highest grade in Contracts. 

 

PUBLICATIONS: Speaker and author, “Overcoming Foreclosure Obstacles in Ohio: Title Problems, Bankruptcy and Procedures,” topic “Litigation Issues Involving Foreclosure”, 2005 

-Speaker, 2006 Kentucky Law Update, “Top Mistakes Lawyers Make In Real Estate Practice” and  

“Recent Trends in Eminent Domain and the Effect on Kentucky Law.” 

 

ASSOCIATIONS AND MEMBERSHIPS: 

 -Admitted to practice in all state Courts in Kentucky and Ohio, as well as the U.S. Federal District Courts in the Eastern and Western Districts of Kentucky, and the Southern District of Ohio. 

-Was Vice Chairman and then Chairman of the Bankruptcy Committee of the Cincinnati Bar Association. 

 

Shawn has been married to his wife Theresa for 34 years, and they have daughter Hollie, who is a Registered Nurse, and three grandchildren. Shawn and his wife also have 2 cats, Finn & Loki. 

In his spare time, Shawn enjoys spending time with his grandchildren, writing, and researching genealogy.
